Steel structures for a modern ice sports center
Trutec Oy supplied the steel structures for the Matinkylä ice sports center in Espoo, which was later named Ilmatar Arena.
The new Ilmatar Arena in Matinkylä is a versatile ice sports center that offers top conditions for enthusiasts of various ice sports, especially young enthusiasts of ice hockey and figure skating.
Ilmatar Areena has 3 ice rinks in two separate halls. There are dressing rooms and auxiliary rooms between the ice rinks. In total, there are 24 team dressing rooms in the building.
The second floor of the building houses public spaces, auditoriums and restaurant facilities. In addition, there is a sports hall (which can be divided into three parts), a mirror hall, a gym and the changing rooms and auxiliary rooms serving these spaces. The second floor also has ample conference rooms and group rooms, as well as a sauna section with lounge areas.
The third floor houses a small hall for figure skaters with dressing rooms and auxiliary rooms, as well as the air conditioning system room.
The architectural design of Ilmatar Areena was carried out by Arkkitehtitoimisto ArkMILL Oy: see the presentation of the project here.
The construction was carried out by Espoon Jääurheilu Tuki ry. Check out the brochure for Espoo Matinkylä Ice Sports Centre here.
