Romu Keinänen I S.A.M.P.O. Crushing plant (3000m2)

Romu Keinänen’s S.A.M.P.O. processes raw materials again

The plant, built in Tammisaari in 2023, bears the grand name SAMPO, which, following its Kalevala model, uses modern recycling methods to reuse recycled raw materials from waste.

The plant’s design is specifically oriented towards the future and ensuring that the increasingly stringent resource recycling requirements are met in a sustainable manner. Thanks to its lower environmental impact, the plant could be located closer to settlements than traditional plant solutions. The recycling plant will further process fractions, the raw materials of which come from, among others, Romu Keinänen’s sorting centers in Uusimaa.

Noise modeling has been carried out for the entire facility and the area’s sound environment has been taken into account with great seriousness. This has also been aimed at by lowering the surface of the plant’s plot significantly below the terrain.

One of the most important design considerations has been the suitability of the technology for Arctic conditions, which makes the facility unique in Europe. The recycling facility includes the latest equipment and machinery in the industry, produced in Germany, a pioneer in recycling.

Trutec Oy participated in the implementation of the 3000m2 Sampo hall from the early design stage.

Trutec won the tender for the project and offered the best 3D design, which took into account the specific needs of Romu Keinänen’s business. The design of the hall took into account in particular the functionality of the processing plant’s machining lines in relation to the hall’s structures.

Jarkko Mannersuo, Design Director at Trutec Oy, supervised the 3D design of the steel structures, which involved close collaboration with a German process equipment supplier.

In the actual implementation phase, Trutec Oy was responsible for the construction of the hall, from the base castings to the start of the installation of process equipment, excluding the floor castings, which the customer carried out themselves.

The same extensive scope of delivery also applied to the 900m2 workshop hall, which also includes office space. Trutec Oy was responsible for the office’s building services (HVAC) and the interior construction of the premises, right down to the sauna heater.

With this comprehensive design-manufacturing-installation delivery from Trutec Oy, our customer was able to focus on commissioning the recycling plant.

In addition, a canopy of approximately 400m2 was built at the recycling plant.

The opening of SAMPO was celebrated with great fanfare at the end of August 2023.
